The Pittsburgh Steelers waived running back Chris Rainey after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. According to a Gainesville (Fla.) police report, Rainey slapped his girlfriend in the face after arguing with her about a cell phone.

This is the second time Rainey has been arrested for a domestic violence incident. When Rainey was playing college football with the Florida Gators, he was arrested after sending a woman a text message that read, "Time to die."

The Steelers drafted Rainey in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL draft
