Steelers first-round draft pick Santonio Holmes was arrested early Saturday morning in Miami on charges of disorderly conduct. Holmes, of Hollywood, Fla., allegedly became abusive to a police officer outside a ...

... South Beach hotel at approximately 3:30 a.m. Saturday. He was released from jail after signing a promissory note that he will appear in court when he is subpoened.

A wide reciver chosen out of Ohio State with the 25th pick of last April's draft, Holmes left Pittsburgh Steelers minicamp because of an NFL rule that prohibits players from practicing before they or their class graduates. It's a rule designed to help colleges improve their graduation rates.

Holmes said he was in Florida visiting two of his children. According to the police report, Holmes was observed walking in the middle of Collins Avenue in South Beach. When traffic became disrupted and stopped, a policeman told Holmes to "get out of the street." According to the report Holmes "said several offensive words" to the officer and was arrested.
