Steelers sign Smith

The signing of defensive end Aaron Smith could free the Steelers up to keep outside linebacker Joey Porter.

The Steelers on Tuesday made their first move in preparations for the upcoming free agent period at the end of the week by signing defensive end Aaron Smith to a five-year contract extension worth $25 million.
