With replacements needed at left tackle and strong safety, as well as at back-up
quarterback, the Steelers didn’t want to go into the off-season with a need at
tight end, too.
Tuman will enter his fifth season with the Steelers with 12 receptions for 159
yards and 2 touchdowns. He’s finished the last two seasons as the starter
after injuries to Mark Bruener, who’ll enter his 9th season with the team.
Tuman was one of four tight ends on the roster who would’ve become
unrestricted free agents tomorrow, March 1. The others are John Allred, Marco
Battaglia and Matt Cushing.
