| The Steelers signed Jay Riemersma in March 2003. The veteran tight end, formerly of Buffalo the previous 7 seasons, came to the Steelers as a proven red zone scoring threat.
2002: Jay finished the season with 32 receptions for 350 yards. He finished the season with an 11.4 career yards per catch average.
2001: Finished season with 53 catches for 590 yards.
2000: Jay had 372 yards receiving over 12 games (31 receptions). He missed the final 4 games of the season due to an injury.
1999: In perhaps his best season, Jay started 11 games and was 5th among AFC tight ends in receiving yards with 496, 6th in receptions with 37, and 3rd in TD’s with 4. He missed 2 games with an injury.
1998: His 6 TD’s tied the Buffalo season record for a tight end. Buffalo's use of the two TE set opened up the opportunity for him to start 4 games and demonstrate his scoring potential to the league.
1997: Jay played in 11 games and started 8 in the two tight end set. His first reception of his career was for a 19-yard TD. He finished the season, his first active one in the NFL, with 26 receptions for 208 yards and 2 TD’s.
1996: After being drafted in the 7th round (second pick) by Buffalo, he spent the first 6 games on the developmental squad and the rest of the season on the active roster, but was not active for any games.
At Michigan, Jay was a QB who converted to tight end. He was a second team All Big 10 selection his senior year and an honorable mention All Big 10 selection his junior year.
