| Biography: |
| Ainsley Battles started his pro career as a 2000 undrafted free agent with the Steelers. After an injury to Lee Flowers, Battles impressed after stepping into the starting strong safety spot for two games with hard-hitting play and coverage skills. He was released prior to the 2001 season and spent the following three seasons with Jacksonville and Buffalo. The Steelers again signed him in June 2004.
At Vanderbilt, Battles started 33 consecutive games at strong safety and was the 1999 team co-captain. He recorded 279 tackles during his career with 113 of those as a senior to finish second in the SEC and first among defensive backs in the conference. |
