Biography:
Acquired by Bears via trade with Dolphins in mid-preseason last year for Marty Booker and a 2005 third round draft pick. Upon coming to Chicago signed a six-year deal with the Bears. Undrafted free agent that has worked his way up to being on the top rushers in the NFL over the past three years. Owns 8 career multiple-sack games and his 29.5 sacks over the last 3 campaigns place him 10th in the NFL during that span... Has appeared in 51 career games, starting 44, while collecting 188 tackles, 30 total sacks, 8 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and 10 PBUs. Earned first Pro Bowl appearance in 2003 after leading the AFC with 15 sacks.

2004: Ranked 3rd on team with 5 sacks among 51 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 PBU while starting all 12 games played at LDE... Ranked 11th on team and 4th on D-line in tackles... Started Games 1- 5 and 8-14 at LDE, missing Games 6-7, 15 due to a calf injury and ended the season on injured reserve... GAMES PLAYED-STARTED: 12-12

2003: Earned first career Pro Bowl start after leading the AFC and tying for 2nd in the NFL with 15 sacks. Started all 16 games at LDE for Miami, registering 73 tackles, 6 TFLs, 40 QB hurries, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 6 PBUs... First-team All-AFC by Pro Football Weekly and was tabbed the team's MVP in a vote of South Florida media... Posted 5 multi-sack games. Tackle figure ranked sixth on the team and first among defensive linemen.

2002: Stepped into starting role with Miami and opened all 16 contests at LDE to team with Jason Taylor to form the NFL's most potent sack tandem... Eighth on the team and second among linemen with 59 total tackles, including 9.5 sacks, 26 QB hurries, 2 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles and 3 PBUs... Sack total was 2nd on the club, 6th in the AFC and 17th in the NFL... Established Dolphins preseason record with 8 sacks.

2001: Played in 7 games, all in a reserve role... Finished with 5 total tackles and a half-sack.

2000: Spent rookie season on Reserve/Non-Football Injury list while recovering from a knee injury sustained during his senior season of college.

COLLEGE: Four-year letterman and starter (1996-99) at Indiana, starting 37 of 39 games played... Finished with 167 total tackles, including 64 for loss, 34 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries... Finished career 5th on the Big Ten all-time sack chart... Started each of the first 6 games of his senior season before sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the sixth game of the season, on Oct. 9 against Northwestern... Prior to the injury, had tallied 22 tackles, including 11 TFLs and 7.5 sacks... Second-team All-Big Ten as a junior when he started all 11 games and registered 56 tackles, including 17 TFLs and 8 sacks... First-team All-Big Ten as a sophomore when he started all 11 contests, recording 42 tackles and career-high totals of 21 TFLs and 10 sacks... Started 9 of the 11 games in which he played as a redshirt freshman in 1996 and tallied 47 tackles, including team-high figures of 15 TFLs and 8.5 sacks... Earned degree in English, was enrolled in postgraduate work during the 1999 season.

PERSONAL: An all-city selection as a senior at Tottenville H.S. in Staten Island, N.Y... Has done work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Read Across America... Has assisted in building houses for Habitat for Humanity... Goes by the nickname "Wah-LAY."
