1998: Fractured right fibula against UCLA, missed remainder of season.
2000: Seperated right shoulder in first pro carry, missed entire season.
Season Notes: Entered the season as the team's unchallenged feature
back after gaining over 1200 yards the previous year... Distracted by off-season
domestic violence charge during training camp, but hearing has been set to occur
after the season... Did nothing to reduce confidence in his ability to be the
team's feature back during an excellent pre-season... Signed a contract
extension prior to the season.
Career Notes: Junior college transfer who stepped in as the
featured back for Oregon in 1998-9... Gained 2,058 yards during two-year
stint at Oregon, including 1,234 yards and 9TDs as a senior... Injured against
UCLA as a junior, in a game where he ran for 172 yards... Drafted in the third
round by the Detroit Lions... Injured in the first carry of his pro career in
pre-season game in 2000, and placed on IR for entire season... Gained 72 yards
in second year with Lions, a year which saw him waived by Detroit and then
re-signed after a brief stay on the Miami Dolphins practice squad... Signed with
Denver in 2002 and spent the next two years primarily appearing at fullback and
appearing on special teams... Gained only 25 yards total both years total, while
excelling on special teams... Took over as Broncos feature back in 2004 and
exploded for 1,240 yards (career high)... Ran for over 100 yards six times for
the Broncos... Traded to the Browns in March 2005 for defensive help... Fought
off Lee Suggs and William Green during training camp to win the feature back job
with the Browns... Ran the ball 309 times (team record) in gaining 1,230 yards
for Cleveland... First Browns back since 1985 to run for over 1,000 yards...
Wore down at the end of the season but continued to carry the ball exclusively
for the Browns... Signed three-year contract extension during off-season with
the Browns.
