Dan continued to be the classic Steelers bruising fullback, paving the way for 100-yard games by Jerome Bettis and Amos Zereoue. He also provided a nice relief valve for Tommy Maddox in passing situations. In April, Dan signed a 1-year RFA tender to remain with the Steelers for 2003.Kreider signed with the Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent from New Hampshire in 2000 and earned the 2000 Joe Greene Great Performance Award as Steelers Rookie of the Year with his performance filling in for the injured Jon Witman for 7 games. He has since become a fan favorite after pancaking Ravens MLB Ray Lewis on multiple occasions. Witman regained his starting slot in 2001 but Dan still had great value as the backup that season. He enters the 2002 season as the starter. At New Hampshire, Dan was the starting FB for three years. |
